Today I have loads of exiting things to tell you! First is that the marigold flowers are flowering and are looking fantastic!

Next is that we have got big beans and some flowers ready to grow into beautiful, yummy and juicy beans.

And now my capsicum plant has a capsicum that is Orange and when it gets red I can harvest it and have it for dinner!

Finally there are our carrots. They are growing well and we have picked some to eat. They are small because of the type of carrot they are.

Not to forget about the lettuce it is growing well and it is really tall, juicy and will surly be Delicious!

Day Thirty Two

Two exciting things are happening in our garden this weekend ...

One, the bean plant has a bud on it ...
... and the other exciting thing is the chili bud has opened and it is a beautiful white flower.

Today we also found lots of naughty caterpillars. We pulled them off and fed them to the chooks but Mum wants to know a way to keep creepy crawlies off our veggies without spraying them with chemicals? Does anyone know a way?

The guinea pigs love bits and pieces from the garden that we are not going to eat.

Day twenty four ...

Today, day twenty four, we have got four exiting things to tell you! Number one is that dads chili plant has got buds ready to be flowers! Number two is that we found a yellow lady bug on my strawberry plant.

Is that good to have a lady bug or not?
Next is that my capsicums on my capsicum plant are looking good and growing fast. Finally the peas are shooting up madly and are looking good too!

Day nineteen ...

Today I have lots of exiting news to tell you.
The first thing is that my capsicum plant has got flowers and little capsicums on it!

Next is the tomatoes, they have grown so much since the last time you saw them!

One of the other things are that the peas are shooting up really fast too.

Not to forget about the beans they are probably one of the biggest things that we have planted by seed.

q. How do you pick lettuce?

By the way here is Annette Mcfarlane's website http://www.annettemcfarlane.com/vegetable.htm where you can find out good information about veggies.

Day fifteen ...

This morning Anne from ABC 612 came over to interview me about my veggie garden. She arrived with a big black box, in the big black box were two head phones and a special machine like a phone that transmits our voices to the radio station. Spencer first spoke and introduced me and then Anne asked me some questions. I then was lucky enough to ask Annette some questions from my blog. She said the carrots would take two months to grow and a trick you can do is dig a little hole to see how big they are and if they are ready to pick. bad news for the strawberries ... the white coating isn't good. To fix it I have to spray liquid seaweed on the leaves once a week. Thank you Anne, Spencer and Annette!

Day fourteen ...

Exiting news! I've got three exiting things to tell you ... two I will tell you in this post and the other one I will tell you about after it has happened. The first exciting thing is that I have my first follower and the second thing is ... we have little white flowers on my capsicum plant! Also our beans and peas are shooting up really fast. Not to forget about the tomatoes, they are shooting up too! q. Do you get white coating on your strawberry leaves from a caterpillar or not? We found a naughty caterpillar enjoying our strawberry leaf, mum squashed it but she should have fed it to the chickens.

Day eleven ...

Today we found an exiting thing in our veggie garden. It is that there are beans and peas starting to shoot. We also went to Bunnings and bought some herbs and added them to the veggie garden. We planted the coriander next to the carrots because apparently they stop aphids eating the carrots!

Day eight ...

Okay, so ... There is good news in our veggie garden. We just found out that we have a row of tomatoes growing, we can see little green shoots. We know they are tomatoes because they are growing where we have planted them, (tomatoes). They are only 1cm high but when they are 5cms high we will transplant them.

Got another question. Does it matter if you have white furry stuff on your strawberry leaves?

Day five ...

Today I got up early in the morning to water my plants. Now I have a question. How do you know when to pick a carrot? Or in other words, what is the sign? An exciting thing happened today it is as if we are going to get a capsicum soon because we have got little buds ready to grow.

Day four ...

Today I watered the plants early in the morning. I watered the beans and pea seeds for the first time. Mum and I made a trellis for when the beans and peas to climb up.

Day three ...

On day three in the morning I watered the plants. Not long after mum came down with her coffee, we sat together and admired our garden.

Day two ...

On day two mum and I finished digging and the veggie garden was full of dirt. We then planted lots of plants but we can fit some more in.

These are the types of plants we have already planted.
A capsicum plant, chili plant, carrots, lettuce, beans, peas, tomatoes, strawberries and beetrootEver since mum and I went to bunnings my job is to water the plants because mum bought me my very own watering can. I water every thing but the beans and peas because otherwise they will go rotten. Mum then built an excluder to stop the possums and the chickens eating our plants. This is now what our garden looks likes.

Day one ...

Just lately we have put in a veggie garden, because we won some packets of seeds from the ABC 612 Grow Your Own Competion. I was, and still am, really excited about it. The photo above shows what the space looked like before we put the garden in.

On Thursday we went to Bunnings to look for something to make a veggie bed. We bought a Birdies Raised Modular Veggie Bed ... the outside colour is pearl cream ... it looks lovely! We did up lots of bolts to make it complete.

Mum then ordered two cubic metres of organic garden soil to be delivered. Next we had to wheel all the dirt from the front to the back, it was tiring.

welcome to my blog ...
